I know, it's been forever since I updated. This time of year just gets so hectic. I still can't believe they actually expect me to work during the day. I mean, my God, what do they think they pay me for? J/K I actually work year round, it's just that this time of year work takes me to the Capital, which means I'm away from my precious computer and even more precious internet.

Before I forget: I need your help with some music recs. I listen to my mp3 player when I run, and I need some new songs to keep me motivated. It's all about the music, and if I'm bored with that, I just can't stay on the treadmill long enough. Here's what I'm looking for: upbeat songs (in tempo, not necessarily mood), along this vein (a list of some of my current running songs):

  • Take it Off by The Donnas

  • Fighter by Christina Aguilera (yes, I think she's a skank but I'm strangely attracted to her music)

  • StillFrame by Trapt

  • Diggin Your Scene by Smashmouth

  • Come Baby Come by K7

That should give you some ideas. Muchas gracias mi amigas!! (and no ripping on my music tastes!!)

Today started off as an ok day, then began to majorly suck when I cracked the fender on my Jeep. I had an 11:30 meeting at the Capital, and trying to find parking at that time of day is next to impossible. So, I was in a new garage with very tight spaces and I slammed into a concrete post as I was pulling in. Nothing more than a stupid ass move on my part. Hubby's going to have a field day teasing me about it, if he doesn't get majorly pissed. I guess I'll have to remind him of the time he hit the house with my old car. :P After that wonderful start, I had to walk 6 blocks in the freezing cold and I forgot my gloves. Why can't the legislature be in session in March when it's not freezing? Is that too much to ask? Apparently so. Of course, my office is 112 degrees so now I'm sweltering. Climate control=good thing.

I got all my fangirlish squeeing over Crossings out of my system in my post-ep chat with [livejournal.com profile] jujubinha. Suffice it to say, I enjoyed the episode and I'm so in love with S/V I want to marry the 'ship and have it's babies. I must also say that Mr. Vartan certainly pegged the hot meter this weekend. Between Sweaty!Hockey!MV and You're!The!Love!Of!My!Life!Vaughn this girl was in heaven. Le sigh. There were tears, however, as I sat listening to streaming audio from Star 98.7 on Friday night b/c MV was supposed to call in, but was stuck in the desert shooting and couldn't. Shut up. I am NOT pathetic.
Mood:: 'cranky' cranky

ok so I'm browsing through my own mp3 playlist to help you... mmh, upbeat songs. that excludes pretty much everything by Sarah McLachlan, LOL ;)

Something by Bryan Adams? Maybe When you're gone, or Back to Me (live), or maybe I Wanna Be Your Underwear>? *g*

Brimful of Asha by Cornershop (featured in the Alias ep when Francie opens the restaurant), either Rock My Life or Right Now by Jeanette; Bon Jovi's It's my Life, Joan Jett's I Love Rock and Roll, Go Home by the Barenaked Ladies; something by the Spin Doctors, such as Two Princes, Little Miss Can't be Wrong or Pockets Full of Kryptonite; Bree Sharp's David Duchovny (that's for the fangirl that sleeps in me); Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood by Santa Esmeralda (it's in the Kill Bill score - very flamenco like and still muchly upbeat).

maybe I'll stop here, LOL.

oh and just for the fun, the live version recorded at Lilith Fair of Big Yellow Taxi, performed by Jewel, Sarah McLachlan, the Indigo Girls and Meredith Brooks.

There you go. mmmh... there's always Joe Cocker's You Can Leave Your Hat On that could suit this treadmill moment. it's fun. and you don't need to strip down. *g*

Cecile! You rock! Thanks for these recs. I've never heard of Jeanette or Santa Esmeralda, but I will definitely be checking them out. The rest are songs I know, but all would be great for my runs. *hugs*

I'm totally with you on needing music to run. I'll go through my music later tonight when I have more time and come back with some recs. :) and If I don't, then hunt me down and remind me.

Heh. Now I feel really bad since I don't know any of the songs you listed... *blushes* Am I that out? Well, from what I remember, I used to like to work out with loud, fast songs - rock and roll, baby! That and even some techno too. You know, Metallica, Prodigy, this stuff.

Aw. He didn't appear last night in the show either? That is sad... bummer. And don't worry, we are not pathetic, it is just a healthy interest! ;)

I live in the land that radio forgot. It would be very difficult to be more out of touch with music than I. "Take it Off" was in the Alias episode which you will never watch, and "Diggin Your Scene" was in Q&A. I actually get most of my music recs from Alias. Yes, I am a dork. You have to know who Christina Aguilera is, though most of the time I wish I could forget. You would probably know "Still Frame" if you heard it. And "Come Baby Come" is oooooold. It was popular when I was in college (and was my I'm drunk and I just HAVE to dance song).

Metallica, Prodigy
Hee! I have "Fuel" and "Firestarter" on my mp3 player. We? Scare me.

I *so* wish I could have been in the post-ep chat with you gals, now that would have been a fun party :D

It's actually quite scary, as I was doing a lot of squeeing and shouting and Ju was dieing and sobbing. :P

We've just gotten in the habit of IMing after the episode airs in my time zone. Since she can't see it for a few days after it airs, I can fill her in on all the good parts and prepare her for the bad ones. ;) And I can induldge my inner 12 year old fan girl. :P

Hmmm...I only know "fighter" of the songs you listed, but I'm looking for upbeat, running-type music...Sooooo...

From Dance list:
-A Little Less Conversation by Elvis vs JXL (yes, it's a remix, but good)
-The Way by Divine Inspiration
-Scatman by Scatman John

From "Feel Good" list:
-I Feel Good by James Brown
-I Get Around by The Beach Boys (or maybe just cause it reminds me of Flight of the Navigator)
-Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard by Paul Simon
-Just To Get By by Talib Kweli
-Short Skirt, Long Jacket by Cake

Dunno, just thoughts. Upbeat songs. Sorry about your Jeep! Egh, I know what that's like. Oh, and you are so not pathetic *L* That's what shippiness does to us fangirls *L* Much love! *hugs*

OK, I'm officially an idiot. I never got an e-mail for this one, and didn't scroll all the way down the page. *blushes furiously*

The songs that I know off here are AWESOME (and I have many of them, just didn't think to add them to my mp3 player). There are also a lot which I've never heard of, which is PERFECT because I love finding "new" (to me anyway) music.

Thanks for pulling together such a huge list! *hugs*
