Fic rec time!! I promised, and I'd hate to disappoint.
AliasFor my
Alias friends, if you haven't read
Playback by
alikona727, why the hell not?!?! I had the honor of betaing this story, and the first read had me so captivated I sat glued to my screen from start to finish. Those of you who know about my ADD tendencies know how rare that is. The theme is incredibly well executed, and the idea behind the AU/what if "flashbacks" is absolutely genius. There are so many things I love about this story I'd have to quote the entire thing to catch them all. Playback has joined
kenya121's
Chronos as the best season 3 reunion fics out there.
Now, S/Vers, cover your eyes. I have a Sweiss rec. I will always be a Syd/Vaughn shipper (Syd+Vaughn 4eva&eva!!!111!!), but you all know I like to dabble from time to time. Sweiss is my guilty pleasure, and RJ Anderson's
What You Never Knew You Wanted is a must read. It's a great concept, and I love how she totally messed with canon only to end up sticking with it. Very well done.
JAGI'm pissed. Really, really pissed. Just when I find some apathy for
JAG, they give us a great shipper episode and I find two AMAZING fics in the same week. It's enough to actually make me CARE again, and that sucks!! Damn you
JAG!
It isn't often that you find truly wonderful, OMG amazing JAG fic. They're out there, but few and far between. One of the best stories I've ever read in any fandom is
Against the Wind (
Part 1 and
Part 2) by Sooz. Posted late in season 7, this story pulled at my heart and is one of my most often re-read.
Being so in love with Against the Wind, I was so excited when Sooz posted her third story,
Shadowland, this week. It blew me away. Set early is season 9, it's an honest, angsty, and not over-romanticized portrayal of where Harm and Mac are post-Paraguay, and a beautiful story of them finding their way back to each other. Unfortunately, it's only available at the shipperhm yahoo group right now. It's completely worth joining just to read this fic. Here are the links to the chapters:
part 1,
part 2,
part 3,
part 4,
part 5,
part 6,
part 7,
part 8,
part 9,
part 10. If you don't want to join shipperhm, Shadowland will be posted at
Between the Lines at some point.
Another JAG story I discovered this week is
Ease by H. Lee (who also happened to write another all time favorite,
The Week and it's smutty sequel
Sunday). Ease is Harm and Mac during season 8. Remember season 8? When they were getting along so well and DPB totally missed the boat by not letting them get together? [/bitter] Anyway, Ease is totally fluffy but beautifully written Harm and Mac during their down time. A great exploration of the closeness of their friendship, and the slow slide from friends to lovers.
Happy reading!
